About the event

Poetry has always lived close to song in rhythm, in repetition, in the way a single line can hold an entire feeling. In this session, we're drawing inspiration from BTS' discography and letting their instrumentals guide us into our own stories.

We'll be listening to tracks from their latest album, ARIRANG, an album about homecoming, identity, and the courage to return to yourself after time away.

As the beats, melodies, and silences wash over us, we'll journal freely, find the poems hiding in our margins, and shape them into something we can share.

What to expect

A guided listening and writing session where BTS instrumentals become our prompts. We'll move between journalling and poetry, using sound as a doorway into memory, longing, joy, and everything we haven't yet found the words for.

No musical background needed.

No poetry experience required.

Just bring your pen, presence, and whatever love song has been living inside you. Come write the love song only you can tell.

Our Host

This session is hosted by Jakarta Poetry Slam, the first ever bilingual poetry community in Jakarta, where poets aren't only expected to perform their works, but also where we grow together and sharpen our crafts in community.

Our Facilitator

Lizzie Chan is a corporate baddie, by day, and by night, a writer-director whose strange working hours still make her parents suspect she might be a vampire or a spy. She writes with an honest, lyrical, and delightfully unruly voice. A 2023 UWRF Grand Slam winner and 2024 Ubud Women’s Slam champion, she founded Jakarta Poetry Slam and Jakarta Improv Club, and recently represented Indonesia with her original poems at the Sydney Opera House and the Jakarta International Literary Festival.
